NHFF was so thankful to host Kailyn Campbell, missionary at Rio Bravo Ministries November 14-17 She has been ministering there for the past 3.5 years and has been pursuing her master’s degree in social work. It was great to brainstorm with Kailyn and discuss our community approach to foster care here in the Midwest at New Hope. We look forward to seeing Kailyn and all our friends at Rio Bravo this February when several from the NHFF team will join a mission team going there to serve. (More news on that to come)

Here at the NHFF community center you might easily get turned around; (ask anyone that has toured- they will tell you) thus the much needed directional signage that is being gifted to us by Kristina and Amy; they are just the team we needed! Soon, as you drive by the center, you will see this latest creation, our New Hope Childcare sign. We joyfully anticipate their grand opening sometime in February 2021! Please reach out to New Hope Childcare director Heidi Matteson on their website: newhopechild.care.com or heidimatteson@newhopechild.care for further information on employment opportunities or childcare openings.

We are able to warmly wrap lots of love around every child we serve thanks to these beautiful handmade hats, quilts, and tie blankets gifted to our NHFF community.

// VOLUNTEERS

Above: One of our amazing UMD student helpers on our playground; Ericka is part of a team that serves nearly every Monday since last spring. These amazing friends generously give their energy, love, and time helping out at our foster home and the NHFF community center as needed.

The Kids Closet is taking shape as our many volunteers work together to clear out, clean out, carve out and decorate the space that we affectionately call our beloved belfry complete with the old bell that can now be rung thanks to Greg and the crew from Genesis House!! Thanks to the many hours and the generosity of so many, we have a Kid’s Closet stocked and inventoried so that if there is a need, Kristina can set up a time to meet with our families to do some free shopping! Just yesterday, one of our foster mom’s got the exciting news that she would be needed to provide shelter for the newborn sister to her 3-year old foster son the next day. She reached out to Kristina they met and were able to get her all ready. Thanks Hope and her mom Jeanne and sister Ruby, (photo), for the help painting! If you have any items you need or wish to donate, please contact Kristina at 218-310-8313

September Updates!

We are happy to report that our open house was a grand success! It was a beautiful

Evening with a constant stream of folks interested in learning about New Hope For Families touring our newly renovated community center and learning more about New Hope.

Thanks to Mary Hermanson for the beautiful music as people explored our wonderful

sanctuary and placed bids on our silent auction items - we raised over $1,300!

The highlight of the evening was special guest and keynote speaker Ray Hansen,   founder/director of Rio Bravo Ministry - a children's home in Reynosa, Mexico - the inspiration for New Hope For Families.  Ray delighted all with his journey of faith and the story of how he began this amazingly successful children’s ministry, from the ground up, caring for the needs of hundreds of children in his community.  It was a wonderful evening establishing many new connections within our community!

Thank you to all of the businesses and individuals who donated silent auction items, Johnson's Bakery for the fresh-baked cookies and Hope City Church for sharing your sound equipment for the event, and last but definitely not least, thanks Ian Devaney & Jeff Nast for volunteering as our sound guys!  Thanks to them, you can view a recording of Ray’s talk on our NHFF  Facebook page.

A big hi-five and warm welcome to our new Kids Closet coordinator Kristina Linder.  Kristina, her husband Brian Linder and artist Amy Halverson coordinated, designed, built,  and hung our new building signage.  Beautiful and so helpful!!  (If you have Kids Closet needs or donations, please contact Kristina - 218-310-8313)

We would also like to introduce our new media coordinators, the amazing brother and sister team -  Ian and Michaela DeVaney.  You guys Rock!

The current needs of our foster care families include diapers, size 3 and larger; Pull-ups; unscented wipes; a bike stroller, boys and girls sweatpants small, medium & large.

community center needs include helping hands with small building, electrical, plumbing  projects, carpet and flooring; paper products; gas cards, coffee (grounds or k-cups), bottled water.
We love the saying, "many hands make light work" - this has surely been our story - every little bit helps alot!

Warmest regards,

Therese Gruba
